Hi, I'm new here and I was wondering what everyones favorite Icon Editor was.
I'm trying to find a good one to use, and need some suggestions.

I used to use Photoshop and Microangelo to create my icons, but now I just find myself using Microangelo on it's own...

Microangelo has most of what I need... but when it doesn't I turn to another editor called 'Icon Collector Graphics Editor' by GreatOwl Software http://www.greatowl.com - it has all sorts of useful touch-up features like: colour tinting, anti-aliasing, de-saturation, colour invert and other tools... Hardly anyone has heard of it, but it's a great tool to finish off your icon after you've built it with Microangelo...

Lots of you say Microangelo, byt I prefer AX-Icons as it has a tone of features to boot. This program is cabably of reading Shell Icons and Executables. Yes you can even edit an executable and change it icons inside it if you wanted.

Besides this is has a really neat IExplorer style Interface, and tool bar ! Really worth having a look at.

The 'Icon Collector Graphics Editor' that I mentioned above also has a feature to 'inject' an icon inside an executable file... although I rarely find a actual use for it to be honest

On the subject of icons, does anyone out there know how to convert a PC .ico to a MAC icon format? I've done some searching and the only way I have come across is to actually emulate a MAC on your PC and do it the very long winded way...

Also, the 'Icon Collector Graphics Editor' can save an icon as a .MAC icon file, but I'm a little sceptical of it... can anyone out there with a mac test the file for me to see if it saves as a valid icon or not?

Or has anyone heard of some software that can do it?

Thanks in advance...

They all suck. Those who have seen preliminary mock ups of my "secret project" know what a real icon editor should look like.

HD: Your software is bogus unless it's stuffing the icons when it makes them. You can't make Mac (not MAC), icons on a PC due to differences in the filesystems and how they're used.

thecat: Mike sucks, but Ax-Icon's UI was done by a complete moron. Along with most of the other editors. No thanks. If you want to see something closer to a worthy editor, look up Iconographer.

Ess-vid, I understand about the file system differences, that's why I was so sceptical of it in the first place...

Are you going to make your 'superior' editor available as freeware ess-vid? I would be very interested in Beta testing if you want
